How Gratisfied Came Full Circle To Move Forward

Gratisfied was born from a bar I created for friends, family, and health coaching clients when I couldn’t recommend another one on the market with complete conviction. I’m not only a stickler for quality ingredients, but I am also stubborn. Initially, this stubbornness served the company, as it forced us to take matters into our own hands (quite literally) and make all of our Empower Bars in-house. We were creating what I believed to be the best bar on the market, and those of you who loved the bars must have believed that too. However, it served us until it didn’t, when we had to make the tough decision this past spring to close our commercial kitchen operations. Our production process prevented scale, which was only compounded with rising input costs, labor market shortages, and other economic headwinds. 

But I had to keep going. 

So one day, when I was driving in my car, stressed and anxious over Gratisfied’s uncertain future. I took a deep breath and turned to my intuition. Minutes later the idea for the Empower Bar baking mix popped into my mind. It was what Oprah would call and “aha moment,” and I immediately messaged my team. From that moment forward, I just knew that would be the turn we would take. Another pivot in Gratisfied’s story, but a pivot that would bring us full circle.

The Empower Bar started as a home-baked grain-free nutrition bar. It went through its evolution of a pre-packaged bar, only to come back around to its roots. Yes, there is a tiny extra inkling of forethought to make your own energy bars, but this gives you so much more autonomy and control over the ingredients you put in your body. Additionally, research shows you actually enjoy something more when you make it yourself. Enjoyment and pleasure with your food positively impacts your metabolism. A win-win! 

This is a product I whole-heartedly believe in, and I love nothing more than to be able to share it with you. Its versatility also makes it a pantry staple. Not only does it make nutrition bars, but it can make low-carb cakes, cookies, crusts, muffins, breads and donuts. The possibilities are endless, and I can’t wait to keep experimenting with the recipes
