Ways To Renew Your Beauty Routine (& Skin!) This Spring

By Nadia Murdock

Switching up your beauty regime is something to consider as the seasons change. The winter can leave your skin feeling dry and depleted. As the weather starts to slightly warm up this spring, finding ways to renew your beauty regime is a must. Simple tweaks will help get rid of old skin cells and offer a brighter complexion. Brittney Levine, Style & Trend Expert says that her skin was transformed by simply making herself a priority with regular practices at home. “I have made it a priority to use my jade roller each morning. It helps to de-puff my under eye and I use on my forehead and neck to help with wrinkles.  A little massage for my face just helps me to reset, and I always make sure to clean my face with BioDerma.” Licensed Esthetician Leticia Huston suggests that spring time is the time to ramp up on antioxidants like Vitamin C and SPF 30 or more depending on the amount of time you will be spending outdoors.

When it comes to creating a solid plan for spring skincare Christine McMackin, Co-Founder of New England Skin Center shared her top tips that she is also putting into action.

1. Add an exfoliator: Exfoliating the skin can help to even your skin tone, increase cell turnover and aid in circulation and lymphatic drainage. “I add a gentle exfoliator to my spring skincare routine to slough off that dry, dull winter skin. Exfoliating your skin removes dead skin cells that can dull and clog your skin, while improving skin texture, acne, sun damage, and aging concerns.” explains McMackin.

2. Try a Hydrafacial: This is only available in medi spas or dermatology offices but it might be worth the splurge. These facials help to brighten the skin without causing increased sun sensitivity.  It offers a really deep exfoliation, once you receive this treatment your serums will be able to penetrate the skin more effectively. Christine says “I’m adding a Brightalive booster to my Hydrafacial as it brightens the skin and blocks new pigment formation which is what my skin needs right now.”  If you are looking to keep things at home there are a few options that allow you to replicate a hydrafacial at home

3. Get outside: Being outdoors can benefit the skin in so many ways. One stand out is the dose of endorphins it can help reduce stress levels that have a very negative effect on the skin. Just make sure you are using SPF and reapplying each time you head out! In addition soaking up some UV rays can increase your vitamin D absorption. “While it may seem simple, absorbing some vitamin D and fresh air can positively impact your mood, giving your skin a gorgeous glow that radiates from the inside out, so I try to do it every day in the spring.” explains McMackin.

Revamping your skin routine this spring might be easier than you thought. Pick one new habit and slowly weave it into your regular practice.
