If I Could Encourage ONE Thing For Blood Sugar Balance

  • January 23, 2020

I recently appeared on CBS 6 Virginia This Morning to discuss getting your blood sugar back on track after an indulgent holiday season. Not only does the overconsumption of carbohydrates and sugar lead to blood sugar imbalance, but so does overeating in general.

To get your hunger hormones back in balance, it’s important to focus on a couple of key components of blood sugar management and insulin moderation:

  • What you eat first: in the morning after an overnight fast, your blood sugar and insulin levels are at their most sensitive point. Focusing on healthy fat and protein (those macronutrients that create a more minimal insulin response) will help to keep things even keel for the rest of your day.
  • Combining healthy fat, fiber, and protein at every meal will create a more moderate insulin release by your pancreas, avoiding that spike and crash cycle (no more hanger!)

There are many more real food nutritional principles to talk about (which I do in The Beauty of Blood Sugar Balance), but rest assured that the Empower Bars are blood sugar balance in a package. They were created with this philosophy in mind. Due to their healthy fat, high quality protein, and very low sugar content, their net carbohydrate count (only 3g!) results in more satiation and energy for longer. Not to mention they are made with a list of real food ingredients you can read and understand.

If you want to watch the segment, find it below! I also demo a blood sugar balancing smoothie as another breakfast option to get you started on the right foot.
