Air Fryer 5-Spice Crispy Chickpeas

Something I have been loving lately is topping my salad bowls with air fryer crispy chickpeas! They are so easy to make and versatile too. You can customize the recipe with any flavor profile by switching up the spices, making them salty or sweet. Eat by the handful, or top on a salad. I have simplified the recipe using just sea salt and pepper, putting them on a kale caesar. This 5-spice concoction is my favorite!

Air Fryer 5-Spice Crispy Chickpeas {Grain-Free, Vegan}

A flavorful snack or salad topping. Make these air fryer chickpeas in 15 minutes. Grain-free, Gluten-free, and vegan

  • Strainer
  • large bowl
  • Air fryer


  • 1 15-ounce can of chickpeas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin


  • Drain and rinse the chickpeas. No need to pat dry. Place the chickpeas in a large bowl.
  • In a small bowl, make the spice mixture. Combine the sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cumin. Stir to blend.
  • Pour the olive oil over the chickpeas and add the spice mixture. Stir to coat.
  • Place the chickpeas in the air fryer basket. Cook at 400F for 15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes. Enjoy!


Storage: Keep the chickpeas in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
