I love an occasional cocktail. While my go-to is a glass of wine, I do enjoy tequila from time-to-time. I typically kept it simple – tequila, sparkling water, lime juice, perhaps some jalapeno slices if I was feeling fancy. One night, I was craving a margarita, the kind you would get at a Mexican restaurant. So I tried my hand at home, and this is the resulting recipe (lower sugar of course!)
How to make this skinny margarita
The main ingredients in a traditional margarita are:
- Tequila
- Lime juice
- Orange liqueur
I lightened my margarita by using fresh squeezed orange juice, soda water, a teaspoon of liquid sweetener (agave or honey works well). You will want to use a cocktail shaker for best results, although it isn’t necessary. I like a couple of jalapeno slices in mine, but the flavor profile isn’t for everyone.
