My due date is tomorrow. Even though my son Mason was a week late, I (for some reason) had it in my mind that baby number two was arriving early. I guess there is still a little less than twelve hours to go, but now I’m thinking she will either be right on time, or tardy for the party like her brother.
It’s such a strange feeling, knowing you could go into labor at any minute. Should I start this load of laundry? Should I defrost this salmon for dinner? How many groceries should I pick up from the grocery store? I’m even hesitant to take my toddler to the playground, mostly because I’m plum tired, but also with the worry that I don’t want my water to break and scar a bunch of children. So I am staying close to home. While going about my business, making meals, answering emails, cleaning up around the house, I’ll “forget” I’m supposed to have a baby this weekend. Then I’ll look down at the bump, or be hit with a wave of hunger, and the realization that labor and birth are around the corner come crashing back.
So I have been baking and blogging and watching reality TV in order to take my mind off of things. I started the Saturday with banana protein waffles, which my husband and I enjoyed while our son was still asleep.
A couple of hours later, before heading out for a (short and slow) walk, I was very hungry again. I whipped up a delicious and refreshing green smoothie, which I just had to share. It allowed me to use up some summer fruits, and I loved the subtlety of romaine.
